Christian John Meoli, the producer of the 2012 Conference to be held in Los Angeles this weekend, describes 2012 as “the shift”. The slogan for the conference is “Shift Happens”, and this is likely to be be seen on t-shirts everywhere closer to the date. “It’s easy to manipulate people with fear,” he says. “I wanted to stay away from the gloom and doom.”

Roland Emmerich making a 2012 movie makes a lot of sense. Many 2012ers believe that Aliens are a’coming (Independence Day), or Earth Changes will have dire consequences (The Day After Tomorrow), or a Cosmic Alignment is what matters (Stargate). Or like me, believe that we weren’t simple cavemen back in 10,000 BC (his upcoming feature film).
One could almost say he is a connoisseur of 2012 theories, so of course it has just been announced that Sony Pictures have won a heated bidding battle for “2012″, a spec script for a 2009 summer release that Roland will direct. It is expected to be an ensemble disaster epic in the tradition of “The Day After Tomorrow” and most disaster movies. Apparantly it has a price-tag that could reach $200 million!

The ancient Mayan monument known as Tortuguero Monument 6 has been deciphered by Dr. David Stuart of the University of Texas at Austin. A study of this by Lord Pakal Ahau shows that we can expect “darkness or a dark event presumably effecting Earth and transforming the whole humankind”.

There are at least seven good reasons why the world might end in 2012, according to Marcos Ponce.
Detailing these at socyberty.com, he commences with the most obvious – the ancient Mayan Calendar – then proceeds to describe the rest. These include solar storms, the world’s largest particle accelerator, the Bible, super-volcanoes, and our magnetic field.

Maya leader Luis Nah believes that recent disasters in Central America are indications of increasing upheavals as we approach the year 2012. And he predicts more disasters for the regions of Chiapas, Veracruz and other states of Mexico – all part of the Earth’s rebirth.
These disasters reach their zenith in 2012, but will continue beyond then, he says.

Bruce Fenton over at 2012 Rising has written a nice summary on what the Galactic Alignment is, when it was (yep, was) and how it might affect us.
Our sun “Sol” is just one star out of 100 billion stars in The Milky Way galaxy. At the center of our galaxy is a “band of darkness strung along the central galactic plane” known as the Great Rift. And at the center of that rift, we have recently discovered a super-massive black hole, with a mass of 4 million stars!
