The Complete Idiot’s Guide to 2012
August 31, 2008

Any doubt about the popularity of the 2012 meme can now be erased. A new book is being released in October 2008 titled The Complete Idiot’s Guide to 2012.
The authors, Cynthia and Colin Andrews have published Chapter 15 on their website. The description of their book has a gross inaccuracy, which is probably nothing more that a misconception of how search engines work:
The existence of almost 600,000 websites on 2012 indicates a huge fascination with this subject
2012Base.com, a directory of 2012 sites, lists only 400…
But this seems to be plain wrong:
Addresses Mayan predictions about global warming and climate change
My grandfather had never heard of global warming, let alone the ancient Mayans!

Alisyn Camerota of Fox & Friends blogs about 2012
August 14, 2008
Seems that the recent news item on ABC was discussed on cable news show Fox & Friends. Co-host Alisyn Camerota blogs about it:
Some say a polar reversal that year will cause devastating earthquakes, massive tidal waves and volcanic eruptions. Their belief is based on the ancient Mayan cyclical calendar which expires (with catastrophic consequences) in 2012. The ancient Egyptians viewed 2012 as a watershed year as well. And so does NASA, which predicts a sharp increase in solar activity like sunspots and flares that will cause electrical havoc in 2012. So here’s the question: if the world were really to end in 4 years, what would you do differently today? Read more
Roland Emmerich’s Script for 2012
August 6, 2008
Lance Carmichael at CC2K has read the script for “2012″, the blockbuster movie being made by Roland Emmerich – and he is not impressed. In his opinion:
2012 is basically The Day After Tomorrow, but makes less sense. There’s a disaster on its way that’s going to completely change the environment and destroy a lot of cities. The ridiculous cause of the Disaster … has something to do with the planets of the solar system aligning, the Sun sending lots of radiation out, and then apparently that causes a bunch of earthquakes, tidal waves, and volcanoes on earth.
