Michio Kaku Warns of 2012 Solar Storm

Dr. Michio Kaku was recently on Fox News providing information regarding the possibility of solar storm at the peak of the solar cycle in 2012, and the serious consequences…
“We made a mistake,” Dr. Kaku said, when speaking about industry calculations about solar flares. Kaku believes the cycle will peak around 2012, possibly playing havoc with Earthling gadgets like Blackberries.
The Internet, Fox, television, cable, satellite TV” could all get “wiped out around 2012″.
He goes on to suggest that we need to reinforce our satellites, and create redundant power systems. President Obama has already earmarked billions to be spent on the US power grid, but it remains to be seen if it could be completed (or even begun) prior to 2012.
Fox reported on the concept back in December. Prior to that, Dr. Kaku was interviewed by the Daily Grail. Here’s the Fox News video:

for thouse in there 30 and 40s you might remeber the last peak of last big solar cycle from the 80's
where here in florida we could watch the aroura borielis every afternoon.biggest difference is in the 80's we didnt depend on the communication technology as we do today.

That to me is exactly what will happen. Not the end of the world predictions. I believe we will have a backup just like we did for the year 2,000. The sun does this every 11 years I think. So it doesn't oppose a threat, just a possibility that we may lose all power and satalite devices we depend so much on. I only worry at this point because I wonder how we will create new satalites and get ready to launch them without power. We need to start planning now.

I agree…..but this ..i suppose is supost to me the most devistating solar storm we have ever seen.And he said so himself people make mistakes in calculating how sumthings are going to happen excactly. ex.. hurricane Katrina, they did not know were it was going to hit the first time they noticed it. so my point is..as he said pepare for the worst.and for everyone who belives in god doesinit say in the Holy Bible that know one could predict the end…………..

The fact is that the 2012 prophecy is derived from the wisdom of the Maya people of Central America. Not too many folks are actually consulting them at all. Instead most of the Apocalyptic nonsense that is rampant in contemporary media concerning 2012 comes mostly from a variety of wingnuts who have absolutely no business even talking about the subject. They know no May person personally. They have never travelled to Central america and they do not trully nderstand the fundamental mechanics of the maya Calendar. It is true that there are a number of extraordinary natural phenomenon events that are expected for the year 2012. None of them are absolutelly inevitable, and there is nothin in the Maya prophetic tradition that marks 2012 as an end-time for the human species, simply a time of transition. I believe that Dr Kaku is accurate in his prediction but neither this nor any other legitimate prediction raises any specter of world-wide mass extinction as some love to predict.
I have an issue with everyone who says "the mayans were so advanced". They sacrificed people to make the sun rise and were possibly the bloodiest religionists in history.

I think people need to be a little more rational and quit relying on news propaganda for their facts. We all have Therories and I think Dr. Kaku is a good theorist and should be recognized for his talents.We don't know any Mayans and would'nt believe them if they were in our face telling us the truth. Most of us are scarred of the truth. I believe the truth is we are in danger and very soon. All predictions point to a time, but we really don't know the exact time.I say the time is now! Time to start preparing for our future. Personally. We can't stop what we cannot control and we're in a pretty big universe that we as the human race believes we're in controle of. What about God? Maybe we should start there. Here in our own minds, hearts, and homes. Remember… we are what we think. Very few people are making the connection between 2012 and the new World Order. I hope the solar storm in question targets only those who have atrocious writing skills, as well as, those who apparently never completed a grade school spelling curriculum. To compare Y2K with 2012 is like comparing a bottle rocket to the space shuttle. While the hysteria may have been comparable, that's where the similarities end. Comparing the lack of foresight of a bunch of computer nerds to a cyclical event of nature is not only blind, it's dangerous. While Y2K would have been no more than an inconvenience, natural disasters are just that, disasters. Y2K was a huge boost to the computer industry from panicked companies buying new systems. No amount of buying will save anyone from Mother Nature.
