Elvis and 2012

May 17, 2012

Yes, there is a connection – one of Elvis’ famed white jumpsuits had an image of the ancient Aztec Sun Stone Calendar embroidered on it. And the Sun Stone was the Aztec reinterpretation of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. Now Elvis loved exotic imagery, so the Aztec calendar was part of a range of images that appeared on his jumpsuits, such as peacocks, Inca gold leaf, and a Chinese dragon. But this is the suit he wore the most in his final year alive, and he also wore it during his last ever concert.

Interestingly, especially for those who think 2012 is connected to numerology, the Aztec image on Elvis’ jumpsuit has 16 points around the outside, and 8 on the inside – seemingly pointing to the day he died: Aug 16 1977.

Michael C. Luckman, author of Alien Rock: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Extraterrestrial Connection, said that ”Elvis felt that the Mayans were right on target with their so-called doomsday calendar, so much so that the King wore a jumpsuit featuring the Mayan calendar“. Although this is remotely possible, the general public had not heard of the Long Count calendar back then, and had Elvis known of it, he’d surely also be describing the image as Aztec.

The jumpsuit can be seen on display at Graceland.
