2012: Satan’s False Prophecy
May 27, 2008
B. Thiel, who writes as “Church of God Writer”, has written an article that looks into various aspects of ancient Mayan prophecy and 2012 – the Mayan calendar, I Ching, and the Hopi & Hindu calendars…
The opinion he provides is that, because the reign of Satan is coming to an end after 6000 years, Satan has devised the 2012 meme for his own nefarious purposes.
(fake) Britney on 2012
May 23, 2008
Barely meets our criteria, but it lightens the 2012 thing up a little:
Have you guys heard all this stuff about how the world’s gonna end in 2012 or whatever? I’m not the kinda girl who’s all up on current events or anything, but I think everyone should know about this story ‘cause the end of the world could affect all of us.
2012 and Indiana Jones
May 17, 2008
This month we will see the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The most common legend involving crystal skulls gives them an ancient Mayan origin, and numbers them as 13 in total.
Typically of anything Mayan, there are people who believe there is a connection between the skulls and Dec 21, 2012. Their esoteric nature also has people assigning them supernatural properties, although Jane MacLaren Walsh of the Smithsonian Institution says:
Planetary Alignment? No Says NASA Scientist
May 10, 2008
On the website of NASA’s Astrobiolgy Institute is a suspiciously anonymous question:
What do you make of this theory that the Earth will be in direct alignment with the center of the Milky Way in December of 2012? There are many websites which list a series of events in our solar system, leading up to the alignment which will cause a catastrophic change in the Earth¹s rotation. I went to your Solar System Simulator at http://space.jpl.nasa.gov/ (Which is really cool by the way) and typed in a bunch of these dates. It looked to me like the Earth was still intact. Is this alignment with the center of the galaxy even provable?
The reply (from NAI senior scientist David Morrison) may appear to 2012ers as being quite confrontational:
A 2012 “Game” To Shift Consciousness
May 6, 2008
Picture Second Life, but instead of aimlessly wandering about, it’s a long-term experiment aimed at transforming human consciousness. Welcome to the just launched Project Restoration:
a ‘game’ of global awakening. Play is designed to rapidly raise consciousness–social, environmental and spiritual–in order to catalyze the emergence of a free and enlightened society.
It is run by “The Twelve” who say, “in order to maintain anonymity, we have been forced to communicate through aliases and virtual avatars”.
News Round Up
May 6, 2008
Daniel Pinchbeck at Whole Life Times:
My view is that “2012” is useful as a meme if it helps us to catalyze a shift in global culture and consciousness. Rather than fretting about what may or may not happen on that date, we should concentrate on the work that needs to be done now, on an inner as well as outer level.
Vinay Menon at The Star:
This alignment could result in a “pole shift” and wreak havoc on magnetic fields. It could trigger rapid continental drift, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, fires, hurricanes, gamma ray bursts, plasma discharge and the sudden explosion of Ryan Seacrest’s head, which by then would be as big as the moon, causing widespread destruction… But here’s the weird part: McKenna also found this timeline ceased to exist on … Dec. 21, 2012. You know what this means? We’re all going to die on Kiefer Sutherland’s 46th birthday!
Krzys Wasilewski at NewsBlaze:
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, together with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, are the harbingers of doom. It is their faces that appear on a video published on John’s website, to the accompaniment of Enya’s eternal hit, Only Time. Only time will tell whether Sen. John McCain will be able to prevent the Democrats from moving into the White House, but the election of the new and (as we are told) last pope is, unfortunately, a matter of a more distant future.
