2012 Conference for San Francisco

From the people who organized the first 2012 Conference in Hollywood earlier this year, comes what looks like a very similar event in San Francisco, Oct 31-Nov 2 2008. Number are limited to 300, so booking early is recommended as the Hollywood event sold out. Speakers include Dr.Alberto Villoldo, Daniel Pinchbeck, Sharron Rose, Jay Weidner, John Major Jenkins, Rev. Brian Keneipp of The Aetherius Society, James O’Dea of IONS, Rick Levine, Sri Ram Kaa and Kira, Dannion Brinkley, Mike Bara and Patrick Geryl from Belgium.
Woody Harrelson Joins 2012 Cast

Woody says that his character is a guy:
…who’s been talking for a long time, the whole world thinks he’s crazy,” Harrelson said of his character. “But he’s been talking that there’s gonna be hell to pay for what’s been going on ecologically and everything.”
The role suits Harrelson, an environmental activist who once scaled the Golden Gate Bridge in a protest with Earth First! members.
Also joining the Emmerich epic is Singaporean actor Chin Han, currently appearing in the latest Batman movie.

Geraldo Riviera had a two minute spot on his Fox show this week, in which he interviewed a fan of Patrick Geryl’s work, someone who plans on surviving 2012. Unfortunately two minutes was not long enough to learn of how he would survive, or specifically what he thinks may occur. During the interview, a video of Geryl’s theory played on the screen.

Directed by Roland Emmerich, and starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet, 2012 takes the “natural disasters foretold by ancient calendar” angle. Sun storms are affecting Earth, culminating in tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes. The story itself appears to be standard for disaster movies – short on science, long on stories of numerous individuals, and high on amazing special effects, with a small dose of conspiracy. Dr. Karl S. Kruszelnicki is a media personality in Australia, holds four degrees, and has an uncanny ability to answer almost any general scientific question on the spot. This week his website deals with the 2012 question, and he concludes:
By the way, the time between 0.0.0.0.0 and 13.0.0.0.0 is about 5126 years. Now some Mayan archaeo-astronomers reckon that the calendar should reset back to zero and start again. But others disagree and say it should continue to 20, and then reset again.
We don’t have enough information to know who is correct – but if it does go up to 20, then this completely destroys the End of Days Conspiracy Theory, as far as the year 2012 is concerned. But let’s stick to the 13 Conspiracy for the time being.
Thomas McCarthy joins 2012 cast

Thomas McCarthy is the director the current cinema release The Visitors, but he is also an actor, having had roles in Syriana, Baby Mama and Peter Jackson’s next movie The Lovely Bones. Two years ago, Patrick Geryl, then 51, quit his job as a laboratory worker for a French oil company. He’d saved up just enough money to last him until December 2012. After that, he thought, he wouldn’t need it anyway.
